5 String Bass Techniques: 5th String Exercise 4
This next 5 string bass exercise is a position and finger exercise. First try to make sure this 4 note pattern is smooth. Next try to focus on the move from the first 4 note pattern to the second. Your hand needs to learn smoothly from position to position on the bass neck. On a 4 string bass this is a little easier because you have a smaller neck. On a 5 string you have a much wider neck and you need to develop more finger strength. Try playing this exercise from sheet music or bass tab and try moving the pattern up or down the neck if you can with just the drum rhythm.
