Action Custom Straps guitar straps for Jimmy Buffet, Jewell, Keith Urban and REMAction Custom StrapsDresses the Guitars of the Stars INDIANAPOLIS- Action Custom Straps, owned by Terry and Dena Misner has a clientele that reads like a who's who of the music industry. At a recent concert, Jimmy Buffet publicly thanked the Misners for the straps they have custom made to grace some of his most popular songs including "A Pirate Looks at Forty. " Other celebrities who enjoy dressing up their axes in a cool custom strap include Jewell, Keith Urban and Mike Mills of R. E. M. , not to mention guitar enthusiasts from around the country. The concept for the strap came from a desire for the perfect camera strap for Misner, a photography enthusiast. Dissatisfied with what he found on the market, he decided to create his own hand rolled leather creation using the softest cabretta leather he could find. He made straps for his friends as well and in 1999 his son asked him to make him a strap for his guitar. That first strap was a diamond back rattlesnake design and led to a host of other creations incorporating the use of beads, feathers, sequins and anything else that a customer can imagine. The celebrity connection grew when Misner was asked to provide straps for the "Gift Lounge" at the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2003. There he met many artists who were enthusiastic about the straps and appreciated that these were hand made from quality material. They also appreciated the time Terry was able to spend with them and give them what they wanted and a perfect fit. The straps truly make a fashion statement. American Idol's Kelly Clarkson has a strap that resembles a feather boa. Fans and reviewers alike have noticed the strap and mentioned it on several Web sites. The straps have been reviewed in All Things Strat and Gritz online. Both camera and guitar enthusiasts love the comfort the straps provide. The Misners have ready-made straps available, but they also love working with their customers one on one to provide them with the strap of their dreams. Terry encourages his customers to use their imaginations and put some of their personality in each strap that he creates. Local customers like the look of the straps and enjoy the freedom to create something truly unique. "A guitar or camera has a function, but it looks good too," says Terry. "When you accessorize it, you enhance its personality. We don't want to sell the most straps, just the best and we'll take all the time that is needed to build a strap that will be used for many years to come. "
