Easy Guitar Chord Finger Picking: G major
In the previous lesson we "picked" an E minor chord. In this lesson we try to use a more difficult finger picking pattern using the G major chord. The G major chord is one of the most used chords on the guitar.
In the previous exercise we use this pattern to play the strings of the guitar.
1st string: ring finger
2nd string: middle finger
3rd string: index finger
4th string
5th string
6th string: Thumb
But you can also play it like this
1st string: pinky
2nd string: ring finger
3rd string: middle finger
4th string
5th string
6th string: Thumb
Look at the next piece of sheet music and guitar tab. If you want to play chords like this try setting your fingers of the left hand on the right frets before starting to play the chord. This way you will have your fingers ready and you can focus on the strings your have to pick. Try playing the next chord pattern using both finger picking methods and also try to play it using a guitar pick. When you use a guitar pick you play the strings in the direction you are going so for this pattern:
