Ernie Ball Local Heroes Tour Stops At Guitar Center's
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA - Ernie Ball helped Guitar Center celebrate the opening of its Oxnard, CA store on Thursday evening, November 9 with the Ernie Ball mobile stage and The Bus on hand amidst a Hawaiian-theme backdrop, complete with a luau. The following week the Ernie Ball road show traveled to San Bernardino for its Grand Reopening on November 16. Lucky attendees of each event went home with thousands of dollars worth of prizes. Guitar Center now has 82 stores, all carrying Ernie Ball Music Man products, from guitars to strings. A crowd of more than 1,200 packed the new stores to party on until the wee hours to live music on the Ernie Ball's one-of-a-kind mobile stage (which just returned from a three-month East Coast stint on the Local Heroes Tour). Bands playing in Oxnard included Ernie Ball endorsees the Pathetics, and Black Cat Bone, both from San Luis Obispo, CA, along with the headlining bands Velvet Jones and newly signed Ernie Ball endorsee American Pearl, both from LA. Bands playing at San Bernardino included the Pathetics, American Pearl and Juggular of San Bernardino.
The EB Bus, an eye-catching 35-foot traveling extravaganza, also caused a stir. Fully equipped with 19 guitars and demo stations, the interactive display gave guitar players a chance to road-test Ernie Ball Music Man's entire line of guitars and basses and win prizes including T-shirts, hats and sweatshirts. Guitar Center also gave away thousands of dollars worth of prizes from TVs and VCRs to Sony Play Stations at each event, along with a trip to Las Vegas at the San Bernardino reopening. Said Marty Albertson, president of Guitar Center nationwide, "Ernie Ball gave tremendous support to our grand opening with the mobile stage and the bus -- their presence added some real excitement and uniqueness to the event." The Ernie Ball Company was the first to offer rock strings with the creation of Slinkys, and further revolutionized the market by offering guitarists Custom-Gauge single strings. EB also produces Music Man guitars and basses, volume pedals, and other accessories.
