TBP-1 Tube Bass Pre-Amp Product Overview Vintage Tube Tone section • The heart of the sound • Passive tone stack (key phrase) • Same circuit as found in the 65 TWIN and the Dual Showman • Same original “Fender” tone as the coveted Bassman models (now loved by guitarists) • Remember Paul McCartney on the roof top? THAT sound! • FLAT setting = Bass 2 Mid 10 Treble 2 • The advantage of this circuit is the TONE! • The disadvantage is the limited ability to fine tune or “tweak” individual frequencies That is why we added the rest of the controls you see on the front of the TBP-1 (to buy back the tone control that bass players are used to having). Tube Overdrive section • Intended to add the “grind” sound produced when the tubes are working hard (breathing) • Adjustable Gain allows complete tailoring of the sound • Blend control can be set for “touch sensitive” overdrive tailored to your playing style • With Blend set all the way left NO overdrive will be heard • With Blend set all the way to the right ONLY the overdriven sound will be heard • This feature can be foot switched in/out or by using the “ENABLE” button Vari-Q (Patent Pending) section • A “smart” semi-parametric EQ • Choose your Frequency with the FREQ control • Boosting the LEVEL increases the focus of the Q (assuming you are trying to increase a RANGE of frequencies • Cutting the LEVEL decreases the focus of the Q (assuming you are trying to notch out specific frequencies)
