Guitarist John Petrucci Joins Ernie Ball Music Man Family
Renowned Dream Theater guitarist, John Petrucci, has joined the Ernie Ball Music Man Family, which includes guitar greats Steve Morse, Albert Lee, Vinnie Moore, and Steve "Luke" Lukather. Petrucci, a user of Ernie Ball RPS Slinkys and volume pedals, is in the final stages of prototyping his new Music Man Petrucci signature model guitar. Release date is scheduled for summer 2000.
John will also be performing guitar clinics for Ernie Ball/ Music Man retailers worldwide. Retailers interested in hosting a clinic should contact Ernie Ball's Artist Relations Manager, Greg Timmons.
Originally from Kings Park, Long Island, John began playing guitar at the age of 12. Though primarily self-taught, he attended Berklee College of Music in Boston in the mid-1980's, where he learned jazz composition and harmony. While at Berklee John hooked up with John Myung and Mike Portnoy, forming a band called Majesty (which would later be renamed Dream Theater).
Dream Theater has recorded eight albums and is currently on a worldwide tour promoting their latest release, Scenes from a Memory available on the WEA/Elektra label. For more information on upcoming Petrucci clinics, or any of the Ernie Ball Music Man products, please visit the Ernie Ball website at www.ernieball.com.
The Ernie Ball Company was the first to offer rock strings with the creation of Slinkys, and further revolutionized the market by offering guitarists Custom-Gauge single strings. EB also produces Music Man guitars and basses, volume pedals, and other accessories. Strings and accessories are available in more than 5,500 music stores throughout the U.S. and in 68 countries.
