Lee Roy Parnell distinct Marshall Guitar SoundLee Roy Parnell has established an impressive career, earning multiple GRAMMY and CMA nominations as well as garnering 11 top 10 singles, including four #1 hits. Recent guest appearances include sessions with Greg Allman and the Capricorn Rhythm Section, to songwriting and slide guitar work on Patty Loveless’ latest album. As a master of toneful guitar technique and distinctive slide playing, Parnell continues to forge new ground with his blend of soulful rock and blues on his upcoming album, Back to the Well, set for release in early 2006 (Universal South).Whether at his home studio, jamming with other top artists or out on tour with his band, Parnell relies on the distinct Marshall sound to perfectly complement every nuance of his playing. While Parnell’s larger venue stage rig includes two 50 Watt Marshall half stacks, his new Handwired 1974X Combo is his amplifier of choice for ultimate tone in more intimate settings. “I’ve used classic Marshall amps all of my life, and the 1974X really gives me my classic Marshall sound,” states Parnell. “I’ll plug straight into the clean channel and just push the tone and volume up to seven or eight and let it go. This amp gives me the sound and feel that I rely on, which is a great testament to the design of these new handwired amps and why they will appeal to other die-hard Marshall players.” Parnell concludes, “There’s not a better sounding or more straight-ahead approach to take — especially not one I can carry with me so easily from one gig to the next.” In 2006, look for Lee Roy Parnell on tour in support of his latest album.
