Playing and Picking Chords on Guitar Em and G major

This next exercise is a typical example and exercises of how chords are played on guitar. If you are playing this kind of sheet music and guitar tabs of chords you should pay attention of the note lengths of the guitar notes. The sheet music shows these notes as 8th notes. But when you listen to the included guitar music you will hear that this is not being played on guitar.

When playing chords you can just let the notes sound until you play the next note or chord on that same string. In some sheet music you will see some note saying "let ring". This means let the notes of the picked chords ring until the next. Most sheet music will show it like this. If you would try to describe the guitar notes and their real length it would make the sheet music very difficult to read. Remember sheet music is just a way to describe music in the easiest way possible, not a way to totally and completely describe the guitar music. That's why a musician of classical music always has to give his or her interpretation of the sheet music.
