Yamaha bow CPX-8M compass series guitar{cpx8m.jpgr NASHVILLE–Yamaha Corporation of America announces the debut of the CPX-8M Compass Series acoustic/electric guitar at Summer NAMM 2000, an instrument which epitomizes the age-old tradition of Yamaha craftsmanship and luthery, augmenting it with classic design and the finest materials currently available. This new model features Yamaha’s exclusive two-way pickup design, the unique body style of the successful handcrafted Compass Series and the stylized theme of the original CPX-15. The CPX-8M will be available in August."More and more professionals are turning to Yamaha guitars for their sound, look and quality," states David Bergstrom, director of marketing, Combo Group, Pro Audio & Combo Division. "The CPX-8M certainly fulfills all those requirements." The CPX-8M features the unique single-cutaway body shape characteristics of the Compass Series, delivering transparent sonic quality, articulate highs and rich, resounding lows. The original Yamaha two-way pickup system–comprised of an in-bridge bar sensor piezo pickup and a gooseneck-mounted condenser microphone under the bridge plate–produces clear piezo and rich microphone sounds which can be mixed together using the built-in blend control. A solid Cedar top, Andes Mahogany back and sides and a bound Rosewood fingerboard gives the CPX-8M a simple, yet tasteful look. Embellishments include a bound headstock, inlaid Mother of Pearl/Abalone Compass logo and classic Mother of Pearl fingerboard dot inlay. "With its solid Cedar top, this instrument sounds great," comments Gary Cook, Guitar product manager.
