Yamaha DG Stomp Box is at home on the stage or in the studio
Yamaha DG Stomp Box is at home on the stage or in the studio –Award-Winning Amp Features Now Available in Compact Format Stomp Box– {dgstmp.jpgr NASHVILLE–The Yamaha DG Series digital guitar amplifiers have garnered great reviews and accolades from artists that include Ty Tabor, Alan Holdsworth, Richie Kotzen and Doyle Bramhall for their natural sound, excellent interface and flexibility. Now, Yamaha Corporation of America, Pro Audio & Combo Division, brings that same innovative technology to a compact "stomp box" format with the debut of the DG Stomp at Summer NAMM 2000.
At home in both analog and digital environments, the DG Stomp is the ideal addition for studio musicians who want clean sound and multiple effects, or the gigging player who wants killer tone without the inconvenience of heavy amps and racks of effects. The unit will be available this August.
"The DG Stomp represents the next generation in the evolution of Yamaha’s Electronic Circuit Modeling (ECM) technology," states David Bergstrom, director of marketing, Combo Group, Pro Audio & Combo Division. "The result is a product that boasts amazing features at an incredible price. It’s compact, user-friendly, great for recording and live performance."
The unit emulates eight amplifier types and features 180 patches (90 Preset/90 User), eight high-quality preamps, a built-in tuner and speaker cabinet simulation for the following configurations: 1x12, 2x10, 2x12 and 4x12. State-of-the-art onboard effects include compressors, modulation (chorus, flanger, phaser, tremolo), delay (digital, tape echo, Tap Tempo), reverb (hall, plate, spring) and a programmable/assignable Wah.
The DG Stomp allows real-time control for up to 14 effects parameters, and up to eight simultaneously. Four built-in footswitches change patches in Group/Bank/Number format and also control the Tuner, Tap Tempo Delay, Effect On/Off and MIDI programs, making the unit the perfect addition to any live performance rig.
In the studio, the MIDI IN/OUT transforms the DG Stomp into a powerful MIDI pedal board. The unit also features an expression pedal input for additional effects control, plus stereo outputs and a headphone output. A digital output allows direct recording from the digital circuitry to a digital recorder without signal degradation.
Patches for the DG Stomp were programmed in Germany, the United Kingdom and United States by guitarists and producers that included Jerry McPherson, Kenny Greenberg and renowned programmer David Coffin. In addition, the unit underwent exhaustive pre-launch evaluation with artists Ty Tabor, of progressive rock/metal act Kings X, and Amir Derakh from the alternative band Orgy.
"The DG Stomp is designed by and for guitarists who want the most advanced features in a compact stomp box design. The result is incredible tone and effects," adds Gary Cook, Guitar product manager.
