Yamaha SA2200 becomes affordable SA500 Acoustic Electric Jazz Guitar
“We keep hearing great players talk about how much they love our SA2200 and AES1500,” says Bryan Savage, marketing manager, Yamaha Guitars. “We took that same great Yamaha quality and playability and built two semi-hollow body guitars that offer features not typically accessible at these price points.”
The SA500 and AES500 are currently available.
Traditionally known as the guitars of choice for jazz musicians, hollowbodies have been gaining popularity in the rock world for their classic look and unique sound. Yamaha debuted two affordable semi-hollow body guitars at Winter NAMM, the SA500 and AES500, which will appeal to players of any genre looking for an alternative to a traditional solid-body instrument.
The SA500 and AES500 blend traditional elements from the acclaimed Yamaha SA2200 and AES1500 with custom modern features to create true contemporary classics. Both models feature Maple bodies with carved Maple tops, a 24 3/4” scale set Mahogany neck, 22-fret Rosewood fingerboard and Yamaha AES bridge. Electronics include Alnico humbucker pickups with front and rear volume and tone controls, plus a three-position pickup selector switch. Other design elements include Black and Brown Sunburst finishes, custom F-holes and finger tail pieces.
