Yamaha Unveils Handcrafted Acoustic/Electric GuitarYamaha Corporation of America will debut a new handcrafted acoustic guitar at Winter NAMM 2001, the LLX500C dreadnought. This new model, representing the ideal fusion of technology and craftsmanship, interfaces seamlessly with Yamaha's entire line of high-tech recording and technology products."Like our Compass Series guitars which have made a mark on professionals looking for unique-looking, great-sounding acoustic/electrics, the LLX500C provides a similar great sound, while keeping a more traditional look," says David Bergstrom, director of marketing, Combo Group, Pro Audio & Combo Division. The LLX500C is handcrafted at the world famous Yamaha Music Craft workshop using the finest materials available. A solid Spruce top and solid Rosewood back and sides provide superior tone and timeless aesthetic beauty, while the Mahogany neck and Rosewood fingerboard offer the supple playing surface professionals expect. Other design touches like the abalone ring rosette, Rosewood bridge and beautiful gloss finish add to the instrument's traditional appeal. Yamaha's exclusive proprietary preamp design captures every nuance of the tone—deep, warm and bright—with the openness and clarity that make the acoustic guitar unique. Like the Compass series, the LLX500C also features an adjustable condenser microphone mounted directly inside the soundhole and an in-bridge piezo crystal pickup. The results are nothing short of stunning. Gone are the harsh effects of other commercially available pickup systems. "The LLX500C provides the most realistic representation of the acoustic guitar to date," notes Gary Cook, product manager, Yamaha Guitars. "This instrument would be a real asset to any home recording studio. For instance, guitarists could record this great acoustic-electric directly into a Yamaha AW4416 digital audio workstation. The results would be truly amazing." The LLX500C dreadnought offers guitarists a professional body style for both studio and stage.
